JOHN 6: 1-21
Reflection
Jesus looked at His worried disciples’ attempt to solve feeding the great company, but “He Himself knew what He would do” (verse 6). God miraculously moved both his disciples and the crowd when He blessed, divided, and fed the multitudes (verse 11).
So when the Lord said to His disciples “Gather up”, that “nothing be lost”(verse 12), it shows that God still preserves out of abundance, and it illustrates Jesus’ authority and the magnificent act of God for He can multiply something out of just a few pieces of what we have as long as we offer it up to Him, that indeed, “For with God nothing shall be impossible”(Luke 1:37).
In this passage, we learned that the Lord searches the heart and tests the mind. Simply because, He desires to give us lessons, and that is full submission and strength of faith. It was a clear message of hope that in our midst of abundance, also to “gather up” and watch over that “nothing be lost” which God supplied and may be useful to honor and glorify His Name and Kingdom alone.
Indeed, He is the God of provisions. Jesus reminds us, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3). By an act of great righteousness, inspiration and beyond human conception, Jesus Himself revealed that He is Omnipotent God, exalted in power, true in His promises!
